Catherine Hillis was awarded a grant from Les Amis de la Grande Vigne in Dinan, France. During the summer of 2007, Catherine was painting on site in and around Brittany, as a resident artist in Dinan. Les Amis de la Grande Vigne provided housing and a studio and selected one of the artist's paintings for their museum collection.

The painting "Chinatown At Dusk" was selected for the book "Best of American Watercolors," published by Kennedy Productions. "Chinatown At Dusk" was also selected for the back cover of the book. Look for this publication at: www.bestofartists.com

Catherine Hillis is awarded 2nd place in watercolors for the state of Virginia and the full color book featuring her work is out! Her painting "Ascending the Stairways to Heaven" is reprinted on a full page. The book, The Best of Artists and Artisans, Virginia, is now available at local bookstores in Virginia and through amazon.com.

Directions: From Leesburg, take 7 West towards Winchester. Exit 7 West at the second Purcellville exit. The exit says "Purcellville/Round Hill." Turn left and go towards Purcellville on this road, which is Business 7. Go several miles and you'll come to the historic intersection in Purcellville. There is a blinking light at this intersection at Bus. 7 and 21st Street. Park in one of the two town lots on your right. Walk across the street and my building is facing Business 7, right after the intersection with 21st Street at Bus. 7. You will see two ground floor stores: the Toy Store and the Dollar Store. Enter through the glass door between the two ground level stores and go up the stairs and Catherine Hillis Studios is the first door on the right.
