October 23-29, 2011
Watercolor painting can become an outlet for refreshing and
renewing our selves. Learning good technique is a path to good
painting and the use of the brush, paper and the paint has a
meditative quality that can encourage a focused spirit.
This class is appropriate for beginners who would like to learn
the
basics of watercolor painting or for intermediate students who
would like to refresh and improve their technique. The intent
of the
class is to improve students’ basic knowledge of the fluid medium;
move ahead in skills; review ideas on how to determine solid
design and composition; learn how to utilize digital photographs
as
reference material; and teach students how to complete their
work
and “gently” self-critique.
All the basic skills will be reviewed as well as contemporary
techniques used for texturing watercolor paintings. Daily
demonstrations by the instructor are included. For more
information visit www.catherinehillis.com.
